About Me

teaching since 1995

I have been teaching second grade at St. Francis Xavier School since 2008.  I came to SFX after teaching 2nd grade at St. Joseph School in Burlington for 11 years and teaching in the special education program at Malletts Bay School in Colchester for 2 years before that.

I graduated from Castleton State College with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Reading Instruction Intervention.  I am looking forward to finishing my Master’s degree at St. Michael’s College in literacy very soon.

My hobbies include reading, biking, crafting, and designing new games/activities to supplement my classroom instruction.  I also love to spend time with my family.

One of my favorite quotes is:  “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

Personal Reviews

Sue has been teaching and tutoring our son Kye for over 3 years. She has helped him through his struggles with reading and writing that would have held him back if we hadn’t entrusted our son with Sue’s more than capable teaching skills. Kye has progressed from below level reading and constantly frustrated with his schooling to getting almost all As on his most recent report card. Sue has become more than a teacher/tutor, but a friend and a beloved mentor to our son. She is a wonderful and caring person and we hope her the best in all future teaching positions she may receive.
